Psychological knowledge and research results are sought and used in many areas of society.
Learning the fundamentals lead to an extended and higher level of expertise in psychology.
Scheduled to offer the support for the national qualifications of psychologists ‘Psychologist Certification’.Students were able to take courses on “Clinical Psychologists” and other qualifications, regarding a career requiring a specialized knowledge of psychology, such as psychological counselors.
The newly created ‘Psychologist Certification’ is the first National Certificate for psychology.It is expected that students will be able to participate in a wide range of fields such as psychotherapists in the medical and welfare fields, as well as corporate and school counselors.
One of the below is a required eligibility for taking Psychologist Certification National Certificate:
◎University + completion of designated subjects for graduate school, completion
◎Completion of designated subjects for University Graduation + specified work experience
The content taught at the university meets the criteria adequately. However, a curriculum applicable for the conditions of the national certification is being developed since the psychologist certification was introduced.
The focus is on the effect and role of sleep from the effect it has on health and physical growth, the relationship between school results and sleeping habits, and accidents and sleep rhythms, etc.
In the Department of Psychology and Humanities, there are many faculties dedicated to ‘the science of sleep.' Many off-campus researchers are also invited to the university as staff, and the university is the first humanities university to establish a Sleep Research Institute in Japan. High-level research aimed at improving problems related to sleep use facilities and equipment such as the ‘Sleep Laboratory’ (pictured left) for sleep and cognition experiments. Also, the research results are made known widely, contributing to society.
